• What is the Voice Caddie EL3?

  The Voice Caddie EL3 is an ultra-compact golf laser rangefinder (117 g) designed to deliver precise, fast and intuitive distance measurements on any golf course. It incorporates three key technologies: the exclusive Ball-to-Pin function to measure the distance between your ball and the flag, Pin Tracer™ for instant and reliable pin locking, and the V-Algorithm™ for slope-adjusted distances calculated from 10 years of PGA and LPGA data. Its USB-C rechargeable battery and integrated magnet make it a complete on-course companion with no compromises. Available in two colours: Silver and Black.
• What is the Ball-to-Pin function and how do I use it?

  The Ball-to-Pin function allows you to measure the distance between your ball and the flag without having to stand exactly at your ball's position to aim. In practice, if your ball is in a difficult location (deep rough, side slope, downhill lie), you can take the measurement from a more convenient position while accounting for the offset. It brings the logic of a professional caddie directly into your game.
  
  This function is particularly useful for approach shots from unusual lies and for saving time on the course. The distance is displayed instantly on the EL3's OLED screen.

  Ball-to-Pin is an exclusive Voice Caddie technology — it is not available on competing rangefinders within the same price segment.
• How does Pin Tracer™ work on the EL3?

  Pin Tracer™ is a priority target detection algorithm built into the EL3. It identifies the flag among background objects (trees, hedges, buildings, hills) to provide the exact distance to the pin rather than the obstacle behind it. Press and hold the measurement button: the EL3 vibrates as soon as the pin is accurately locked.
  
  What sets Pin Tracer™ apart is its ability to recognise all areas of the flag, including the edges and lower section — where other systems often have dead zones. Voice Caddie testing shows an overall performance score of 100% for Pin Tracer™, compared to 75–83% for competing systems tested.

  The EL3 features Voice Caddie's Pin Tracer™ technology — the same system found in the TL1, developed by the official partner brand of the LPGA Tour since 2021.
• Is the EL3's V-Algorithm™ the same as the one used in the TL1?

  Yes. The EL3 features the same patented V-Algorithm™ (Patent 10-1956259) as the TL1 — the same slope technology developed using 10 years of real statistical data collected on the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. Unlike a standard trigonometric slope calculation, the V-Algorithm™ factors in typical ball trajectories based on club selection to deliver a more realistic playing distance.
  
  Example: on a hole with +16 yards of elevation, the V-Algorithm™ adjusts a linear distance of 164y to a playing distance of 180y. On a downhill shot of 22 yards, it recalculates a linear 160y to a playing distance of 137y. Differences of 16 to 23 yards that a standard slope calculation approximates less accurately.

• Is the EL3 approved for tournament play?

  Yes. By disabling the slope function using the Auto Slope Switch, the EL3 fully complies with R&A / USGA rules for competitions where rangefinders are permitted. A clear visual indicator on the OLED display permanently shows the active mode (slope ON or OFF) — leaving no doubt about your device's compliance.

  It is your responsibility to verify whether the organiser of your competition permits the use of a rangefinder. Regulations vary depending on national federations and the level of competition.
• What is the difference between the EL3 and the TL1?

  Both models share Voice Caddie's core technologies (Pin Tracer™, V-Algorithm™, Auto Slope Switch, dual-colour OLED display, integrated magnet). Voice Caddie has been an official partner of the LPGA Tour since 2021 — both models benefit from this expertise. The main differences are:

  • The EL3 includes the Ball-to-Pin function, which is not available on the TL1.
  • The EL3 is USB-C rechargeable (integrated battery), while the TL1 uses a replaceable CR2 battery.
  • The TL1 offers a longer range (1,000 yards vs 730 m for the EL3) and faster instant measurement speed (claimed 0.1 sec).
  • The TL1 comes with a silicone case and Deluxe leather pouch; the EL3 is more compact and lighter (117 g).
  • The TL1 is positioned as the Tour model; the EL3 is the choice for golfers who want Voice Caddie technologies in an ultra-portable format with USB-C charging at a more accessible price point (€199 vs €399).
• What is the difference between the Voice Caddie EL3 and the Bushnell A1 Slope?

  These are the two ultra-compact laser rangefinders with slope and USB-C charging available in this price range — making the comparison straightforward. Here are the key differences:
  
  

  • Price: the EL3 is €199, while the Bushnell A1 Slope is €279. An €80 difference within the same segment.
  • Ball-to-Pin: the EL3 includes this exclusive Voice Caddie feature, which is absent on the A1 Slope. It allows you to measure the distance to the flag from any position without having to stand at your ball.
  • Slope algorithm: the EL3 features the patented Voice Caddie V-Algorithm™, developed using 10 years of real PGA and LPGA data. Bushnell uses a standard geometric slope calculation.
  • Weight: the EL3 weighs 117 g compared to 145 g for the A1 Slope — 28 grams less, a noticeable difference over 18 holes on foot.

• What is the battery life of the EL3?

  The EL3's rechargeable lithium battery offers excellent battery life for normal on-course use — several weeks of regular play between charges. Charging is performed using a standard USB-C cable, the same type used by most modern smartphones and portable devices.
  
  If the battery is running low before heading to the course, just a few minutes of charging will provide enough power for immediate use. Unlike CR2 battery-powered models, there are no consumables to buy or replace.

  Tip: recharge your EL3 after each week of golf, just like your watch or GPS device. You'll always head to the course with a full battery.
• Is the EL3 rain resistant?

  The EL3 is designed to withstand typical golfing conditions: drizzle, morning dew, light rain and condensation. It can be used confidently in overcast weather or light showers, the most common conditions encountered on European golf courses.
  
  It is not certified for full immersion. Avoid exposing it to heavy, sustained rain without additional protection, and ensure the USB-C port is properly closed during wet-weather rounds.
